Nano Toning (Spectra)

"The Spectra is the first q-switched Nd:YAG laser approved for the treatment of melasma. The novel laser technology offers several advantages over other treatment methods. The treatment has a high success rate without irritating the skin."

How it works

Nano Toning (Spectra) Mode of action

Melasma usually occurs on the face and appears as brown, usually symmetrical spots caused by an increased synthesis of melanin (pigment). These spots are often associated with pregnancy or hormone intake and are always influenced by UV radiation. The Spectra Nano Toning Laser specializes in the effective destruction of the target pigment with minimal accompanying thermal damage. This makes it a recognized, low-complication and tissue-sparing method that involves few risks.

Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) occurs on areas of skin that have already healed after inflammation, such as acne or after injuries and burns. Darker skin types are particularly affected. Spectra also offers an effective solution for PIH by removing the excess pigment in a targeted and gentle manner. The method is also used for para-run iron infusions.

Procedure

Nano Toning (Spectra) Procedure

In an initial consultation, you will be informed in detail about the Nano Toning treatment method. This method is a low-complication and tissue-sparing treatment with a nanosecond Nd laser that requires no downtime. It is also suitable for lightening dark circles under the eyes or for iron infusions that accidentally enter the tissue, as well as for discoloration after large bruises. Please come to the treatment without make-up so that we can start lasering immediately. After the treatment, we will provide you with products so that you can put your make-up back on afterwards.

The actual treatment takes around 10-20 minutes, depending on the findings, and the affected areas are gently treated with the laser. An anesthetic cream is not necessary as the treatment is virtually painless. The treatment is carried out by one of our laser therapists. The desired result is usually achieved after 5-10, maximum 15 treatments. If success is not achieved by then, we recommend a combination of LaseMD® (thulium laser) with tranexamic acid or fractional pico toning.

Even if the treatments are carried out with the utmost care, there are certain risks and side effects. In very rare cases, especially if sun protection is not consistently adhered to (sun cream with factor 50), paradoxical hyperpigmentation can occur. Hypopigmentation has also been observed in individual cases, particularly with very dark skin types. Unfortunately, it is not always possible to completely remove the pigmentation. In our own patient population, we were able to permanently remove more than 50% of the pigment in more than 80% of patients. Each case is carefully documented photographically to monitor the success of the treatment.

Your cooperation - i.e. the careful use of the recommended products - is crucial for success.
