How it works
Skinbooster mode of action
Skin boosters are an essential means of improving skin quality and have a positive effect on the appearance of the skin. They are special injectables that aim to improve the hydration and elasticity of the skin by Hyaluron treatments with naturally occurring components of our skin, such as hyaluronic acid or polynucleotides. These substances draw and bind water, store moisture and stimulate the cells of the connective tissue (fibroblasts), which improves skin thickness, density and elasticity.
Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, skin boosters naturally improve the skin's appearance and are particularly known for their benefits in terms of increased skin hydration and a refined skin surface. They are typically administered in a series of microinjections into the middle layer of the skin to rebuild the skin from the inside out.
In our clinic in Zurich, we offer four different Skinbooster treatments:
- Profhilo
Profhilo is a new anti-aging treatment with immediate regenerative dual action against sagging, dehydrated and tired skin. The product contains a unique type of hyaluronic acid. Its special features are its high purity (hence its high tolerance) and high concentration of 64 mg per 2 ml of product. This highly concentrated hyaluronic acid is injected into the treatment area with a fine needle using the so-called BAP technique (Bio aesthetic points). To achieve optimal results, the treatment cycle can be performed twice a year. - PhilArt
PhilArt products work by stimulating the body's own cell regeneration. They consist of an injectable gel composed of long-chain polynucleotides that promote skin hydration and scavenge free radicals. This creates an optimal environment for the growth of fibroblasts, cells that produce collagen, promoting the production of new collagen and elastic fibers. - Volite Mesotherapy
In Volite treatment, as in mesotherapy, lightly cross-linked hyaluronic acid is administered in micro-injections into the second layer of the skin using a thin fine needle. This results in intense hydration, which provides a radiant and youthful appearance. Treatments should be repeated every 6-12 months. - Skinbooster Mesotherapy
Mesotherapy can also be done with completely non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid. This is more of a freshness boost for the skin than a filler treatment and is for people who appreciate completely natural procedures, because hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body

Your treatment begins with a detailed consultation where we discuss your skin concerns and select the best skin booster for your specific needs. - Preparation
Prior to treatment, the skin is cleansed and a topical anesthetic may be applied to ensure your comfort during hyaluronic acid treatments. - Injection
The Skinbooster is gently injected into the middle layer of the skin, which takes a maximum of 30 minutes. - Aftercare
Minimal swelling or redness may occur after the treatment, which usually subsides within a few days. Unfortunately, minor bruising cannot be ruled out with many microinjections. We will give you specific aftercare instructions to achieve the best possible effect and optimal skin rejuvenation.

How many sessions do I need?
The number of sessions required for skin booster treatments depends on the product. For Profhilo, two sessions are usually required at intervals of around four weeks. For Philart, we recommend three sessions, spaced two to four weeks apart. In contrast, Volite only requires a single treatment session every six to eight months. PRP also requires several treatments. Three sessions at intervals of two to four weeks are ideal.
How long does it take until I see results?
The time it takes to see visible results after a skin booster treatment can vary. With some products, such as Profhilo, the first improvements can be noticed after the first session. However, a full course of treatment is usually required to achieve optimal results. It is important to consider individual differences such as skin type and age, as these factors can affect the skin's response time.
Are the results permanent or will I need maintenance treatments in the future?
The results of skin booster treatments are temporary, with the duration of effect varying between products and individual factors. In general, patients can expect improvements to last around six to twelve months. However, it should be noted that these times can vary depending on factors such as age, skin type, lifestyle and the specific product used. To maintain the improvements achieved, maintenance treatments are usually recommended. The exact frequency and number of these maintenance treatments will depend on individual needs and the specific properties of the skin boosters used.
Are there any risks?
Although Skinbooster treatments are generally considered safe, as with all cosmetic procedures, there are potential risks and side effects. The most common include swelling, redness and bruising at the injection site, which usually subsides within a few days. Rarer but more serious risks can include infection, allergic reactions and uneven results. It is important that the treatment is performed by a qualified medical professional to minimize the risk of complications. Patients should discuss any health concerns and possible allergies with their doctor before the procedure.
Is it painful?
Patients often report a feeling of pressure or burning during the Skinbooster treatment. To maximize patient comfort, we apply a topical numbing cream prior to treatment to help alleviate these sensations. The burning or pressure usually subsides soon after the injection. We recommend that patients discuss their sensations and any concerns with us in advance of treatment to ensure the best possible experience and take individualized measures to alleviate pain.
