There are a number of good methods for wrinkle therapy, but in Switzerland these may be performed almost exclusively by physicians: Injections with botulinum toxin and fillers, PRP, treatments with focused ultrasound, fractional lasers and thread lifting. Treatments by independent beauticians are not allowed for patient safety reasons.

Botulinum toxin - known as Botox - is probably the best known preparation against wrinkles. It is a drug approved by Swissmedic, which - used correctly - is extremely safe and gives excellent results for mimic wrinkles.

Botox is extremely safe and achieves good results with mimic wrinkles.

If the skin has lost elasticity or lacks volume, so-called fillers are injected into the skin. Today, mainly Hyaluronic acid filler which also have very few side effects when used correctly. The attending physician will determine possible contraindications in a careful consultation, i.e. tell you if this treatment cannot be carried out on you. An important reason would be an autoimmune disease of the thyroid gland, for example.

PRP is the abbreviation for Platelet Rich Plasma, which is obtained from your blood and must be injected back into the skin within a few minutes. For safety reasons, this treatment may also only be performed by doctors and the blood must always be obtained fresh.

PRP is extracted from your blood and injected back into the skin within a few minutes.

Focused ultrasound is a very interesting method, which treats and tightens several millimeters deep in the skin without damaging the epidermis. For this treatment you need a little time: in about an hour a whole face can be treated. The treatment is somewhat uncomfortable, but has no "downtime", i.e. after the therapy you can hardly see that you have been treated. The micro-injuries under the skin stimulate the body's own repair mechanisms, the skin treats itself and results in firmer lower tissue after about 2-3 months. Today, focused ultrasound is considered the method of choice for the so-called "sagging", the drooping of the cheeks.

Focused ultrasound leads to a firmer lower tissue.

The fractional CO2 laser is currently still the gold standard for skin rejuvenation. In one session, 10 to a maximum of 30% of skin is "shot away". The remaining untouched skin also leads to rapid healing, but one must expect at least three days of "downtime". The more aggressive the treatment, the longer the downtime, but the better the possible result.
