Vaginal discomfort

"Complaints in the vaginal area are not uncommon: Dryness during menopause, repeated painful infections or even urinary incontinence after childbirth can be very distressing for those affected. Treatment with the vaginal laser can provide relief for these complaints. We base our approach on the recommendations defined in the expert letter of gynecological specialists."

Symptoms

Vaginal discomfort symptoms

Vaginal discomfort often occurs after the birth of a child or during menopause. Itching, burning, pain, frequent infections and an impaired sex life are the consequences. The medical term for this is "genitourinary syndrome of menopause" (GMS). Although almost half of women experience vaginal problems in their lifetime, many sufferers are too ashamed to seek medical advice.

Vaginal problems can have different symptoms:

  • Vaginal relaxation syndrome, vaginal atrophy
    • Creation and dryness in the vaginal area are the most common problems.
  • Mild stress incontinence
    • During physical activities such as coughing, sneezing, jumping and lifting, the pressure in the abdomen is increased and small amounts of urine may leak. This can greatly affect the quality of life. In stress incontinence, the metabolism of the connective tissue is altered and the supportive hold of the urethra is too weak, which often occurs after spontaneous abortions.
  • External pigment changes
    • Friction from thongs or hormonal changes can cause aesthetically disturbing hyperpigmentation in the genital area.
Causes

Vaginal discomfort causes

The best-known reason for vaginal problems is the drop in estrogen levels with age. This can cause the vaginal mucosa and genital tissue to become thinner, drier and more sensitive. The vagina loses its protective layer due to reduced moisture, and natural tone and elasticity are lost. Itching, burning, dryness, pain and an impaired sex life can be the consequences.

In the case of some tumor diseases, patients have to be placed in an artificial menopause - possibly even at a young age. This means that the complaints described above occur much earlier.

Other factors promoting vaginal discomfort include pill use, childbirth and birth injuries, hormone deficiency during breastfeeding, obesity, and many others.

Laser treatment

  • A treatment with the Vaginal laser in the intimate area is a matter of trust. Therefore, we discuss your specific complaints in detail during a personal consultation. The laser treatment should be preceded by an examination by a gynecologist, including a pap smear. The treatment itself takes only a few minutes and is performed on an outpatient basis. A rod-shaped laser is inserted into the vagina. This emits laser beams in a 360º radius. Subsequently, if desired and at no additional cost, the outer and inner labia are treated with a fractional laser. This laser treatment with our special laser is low-risk.
